Griffin, who became the youngest player to win a World Series bracelet in 2004 at the age of 22, qualified for the EPT Grand Final via a $240 Double Shoot out satellite on PokerStars.
The EPT Grand Final took place at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel in Monaco. The six-day, €10,000 buy-in event generated a prize pool of more than €6.6 million (over $8.8 million) – by far the biggest for a tournament in Europe, and a record outside of Las Vegas. A total of 24 PokerStars online qualifiers, including 3rd place finisher Soren Kongsgaard of Denmark (€610,550), made the money in Monte Carlo, taking home €3.77m ($5m) - more than half of the total prize pool.
