Footabll rumors - new football transfers
Thursday, 11.01.2007, 11:56pm (GMT)

There are several transfers during this days :

Norwich City, who currently lay bottom of the Championship, have appointed Glenn Roeder as their new manager.

The former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager has penned a deal at Carrow Road until 2010.

Roeder told his new club's official website: "I like a challenge. I like living on the edge at times and sailing close to the wind. I don't mind that at all. It will be bumpy and hairy at times but you've got to look at that as part of the fun. We've got ourselves in a rotten position. I don't want to talk about why that's happened. I don't know why because I haven't been here to see why and I feel it's better to wipe the slate clean and start afresh.

"The season for me personally starts today. I can't wait to get to the training ground, meet the players and get on with the work that we need to do before Sunday. I need to get to know the players as quickly as possible. I haven't let people cloud my judgement about what the players can do and what they can't do. I like to make my own mind up over the coming days and coming weeks."

Then , Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has signed a new four-year contract at Fratton Park.

Redknapp said: "Since returning to Fratton Park I have had nothing but the utmost support from the owner Sacha Gaydamak and chief executive Peter Storrie.

"The club is moving in the right direction. It's a great place to be and I can only see that getting better."

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie added: "Obviously it's a great coup for us to have one of the best managers in the business pledging his long-term future to the club.

"Harry has done a great job, first rescuing the club from the jaws of relegation and then building a team now strong enough to challenge for a European place."

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Juande Ramos as their new manager.

The former Sevilla manager has signed a contract at White Hart Lane until 2011.

Ramos told his new club's official website: "I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work as Head Coach at Tottenham Hotspur, a club with a great tradition and history. Ever since I started my coaching career I have wanted to work in England. It is my sincere hope that I can repay the faith the Spurs Board has shown in me.

"I am looking forward to meeting the players; it is a squad any coach would be excited to work with. I genuinely believe that there is the potential to achieve great things together.

"I was hugely impressed with the Spurs fans both home and away when Sevilla played Spurs last season and it will be a privilege to be the coach of this club with the huge support it enjoys both at White Hart Lane and throughout the world."

Spurs' Sporting Director Damien Comolli added: "Juande's arrival is great news for Tottenham Hotspur. He brings with him a wealth of experience, a proven track record and a winning pedigree. Now is the time for us to regroup and look to deliver the results and performances that everyone associated with the Club wants to see.

"By making the appointment at this stage of the season, with our current, talented group of players, we have given ourselves the opportunity to compete well in all four competitions.

"Juande is a highly respected coach and his agreement to join us is excellent news. I know he is eager to get started."

Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Samba has signed a new five-year contract at Ewood Park.

Blackburn manager Mark Hughes told his club's official website: "Chris has made a huge impact in a short time with us and is clearly a young man with a big future. We are delighted to have secured his services for the long term. He knows much hard work lies ahead but we are very confident in his ability to continue to progress."

Blackburn Chairman John Williams added: "Chris has done exceptionally well since joining us in January and the new contract is thoroughly deserved. It's also good business for the club securing the services of a very talented player."
