Ebon Starr Venus Williams (Venus Williams), American tennis is a winner of 35 tournaments (6 Grand Slam). Her sister Serena is also a renowned tennis player.

Biography

Venus Williams was born on June 17, 1980 in Lynwood, California.

When the Williams sisters (five total) were girls, they moved to Compton, California.

His father Richard used to carry his five daughters to the tennis courts in the hope that someday, at least one of them could achieve sporting glory and power and move into a better place.

Venus early became one of the best young players in California, and along with her sister Serena shared the head series as the best young players in California for long periods.

Venus became a professional player in the 1990’s and had a very lucrative career. He has won many major championships, including a gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Fed Cup, the French Open in 1999 Women’s Doubles (with her sister Serena as a couple), the City Tournament Oklahoma, Italy Open, the Hamburg Open, Wimbledon Championships 4 times and the U. S. Open twice.

Another feat of Venus and certainly for the tennis history, was to have become the first black woman who came to the top of the WTA world rankings, which succeeded in February 2002 (however, the tennis and tennis player Althea Gibson Kaylani Stameyia were considered the best in the world in the run-up to rank). For the foregoing should be added the 1-2 they did with Serena in this list, being the first sisters to achieve such a feat, although his sister stole prominence, defeat in four consecutive Grand Slam final (Roland Garros, Wimbledon and U.S. Open 2002 and Australia 2003), which once again ratify the undeniable dominance over the other players who had the Williams sisters; domain that is evident in moments of lucidity in the game for the Americans, who have repeatedly struck with unexpected recurrence.

When Venus and Serena won in 1999 at the French Open women’s doubles, became the first sisters to obtain the title in the twentieth century.

In 2003, Williams played the final at Wimbledon despite suffering abdominal discomfort. Lost in front of her sister Serena, 6-4, 4-6, 2-6.

The elder sister, Yutende Price, was murdered by arms fire in the area of Compton on the morning of September 14, 2003; this fact, linked to the divorce of their parents, that would be carried somewhat distanced from the courts and being harshly criticized by scholars of sport who thought I was in the twilight of his career.

The 2004 was a year that went almost unnoticed that for this athlete, but his story does not stop there. In 2005, away from all favoritism and having won only one tournament in what was the year, was presented the prestigious Wimbledon tournament, which had succeeded in getting on two occasions. Starting as head serial number 14 of the tournament, so quietly and with good pace, arrived in the finals, but not before overcoming so forceful defender of the title and then the world number two, Russian Maria Sharapova, only two Partial, the last of which reflected a clear 6-1. The final against the facing one of its major competitors on the tracks: her compatriot Lindsay Davenport, number one time, who won in three sets, winning a match that had virtually lost the match to lift point. It turned into the player in the entire history of the contest that got less prequalification lift the Wimbledon trophy, which would be added virtue of being the longest women’s final in the history of the prestigious tournament, as the confrontation continued to two hours and forty-five minutes of play.

The 2006, it was not a very productive year for the majority of Williams. It fell in first round of the Australian Open and the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, also was unable to successfully defend the crown gained on the grass of London last year (finishing as the hegemony of the Williams sisters at Wimbledon, because Venus had arrived at the finals in 2000 and 2001-winning, 2002 and 2003-losing to her sister Serena-and 2005-winning, for its part Serena did the same in 2002, 2003 and 2004-this being the only year so far another name other than Williams, was bathed in glory-) and has not won any tournament so far this season.

In 2007 in his first appearance of the year, succeeds crowned as champion of the tournament of Memphis, thus its title number 34 in singles and number 46 in total crowns. Venus, and get a new title after nearly two years since then until his last crown was the tray that accredits the Wimbledon champion in 2005. At the end defeated the rising Israeli Shahar Peer, who in Australia had shown signs of being a strong rival to beat the experienced players circuit. Venus made things clear, an overwhelming 6-1 double what reflected. In the final of Wimbledon this year beats Bartoli to win his fourth tournament this in the open English.

Now ranks number 7 in the world ranking.
