BEIJING - The Chinese express the weight lifting harvested presea a fifth Olympic gold on Tuesday when Liao Hui triumphed in the 69 kilogram division of men.
The Chinese took up with the first five prisoners golden weights contested in Beijing.
The North Korean Pak Hyon Suk took advantage of the absence of Chinese in the 63 kilograms of the femenina branch and stayed with the second gold delivered to this day.
In the weights there are 15 divisions and no country can join more than 10.
China has the world champion Liu Haixia, owner of the world record in that division, but was one of the categories sacrificed.
Liao lifted 158 kilos in the boot and 190 in the envión for a total of 348 kilos.
The French-Tientcheu Vencel Dabaya took the silver medal and the Armenian Tigran Martirosyan the bronze. Both amassed 338, but the French stayed with the silver by having a lower weight.
The Cuban Yordanis Borrero ranked fourth with its total of 328.
Liao, world champion last year, spent a fright when Dabaya-Tientcheu decided to lift 197 kilos in the envión in his last attempt, which would have equalled the world record and has led the gold. The French, however, even made an effort. After touching the bar to give an idea of what they weighed, withdrew.
“I wanted to do, but I knew it was too much weight for me,” he said.
“When I saw that tried the 197, bother me,” confessed Liao. “Although, actually, doubted that my opponent could lift such a weight.”
The South Korean Bae-young Lee was second after the starter, but he tore a muscle in his first attempt at envión and had to leave.
Pak won the 63 with a total of 241 kilos. The Kazakh Irina Nekrassova rose up with the silver medal and Taiwanese Lu Ying-chi the bronze. It was the first gold for his country at the games.
The Russian Svetlana Tsarukaeva was the favorite but failed in her three attempts to lift 107 kilos in the boot.
Pak failed in his first two attempts envión with 135 kilos, but managed to lift that weight in the third, ensuring the gold.
“I feel exhilaration of having been a joy to our general,” Pak said, referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.
“Failed the first two attempts. When would make the third, I thought I looked into the eyes of my dear. That encouraged me and thought I managed to lift the weight,” said the North Korean.
Pak lifted 106 kilos in the boot and the final bill passed by a kilo to Nekrassova. Lu added 231.
Nekrassova said that Pak did not think that could lift 135 kilograms and he believed he had secured the gold medal. Twenty minutes later was still crying in distress.
