MLB: Padres 6, Mets 5, San Diego debut of bitter Citi Field

NEW YORK (AP) – A balk and error that cost three bases plotted on Monday for the opening gala that made the New York Mets in their new stadium ended with a bitter defeat 6-5 at the San Diego Padres.

For the Mets, José Reyes of the Dominican Republic 4-1, an annotated, 3-1 Luis Castillo, a towed, and Fernando tatis 1-0. Puerto Ricans Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado 4-1 of 4-0.
