LONDON .- Lewis Hamilton, world champion in Formula 1, Chris Hoy and Rebecca Adlington, gold medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing, top the list of winners of the honorary titles of the year that gave the Queen Elizabeth II.

The Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, winner of the 2008 world championship, received an MBE (Member of the British Empire). Hamilton said that he has received the MBE is “the most incredible end to a very good year for me.”

The Queen gave the cyclist Today, winner of three Olympic gold medals, the title of knight, while the swimmer Adlington, who won two gold medals, awarded him an OBE (Order of the British Empire)

In China, Chris Hoy managed to be the first British athlete in over a hundred years to win three gold medals in one Olympics, while Adlington was the first British swimmer to win a gold medal since 1960.

“Being a knight by riding a bike is insane. But it is, frankly, an incredible honor,” said the press today.
